You don’t have a memory problem… you have a letting go problem

April 01 .2026 8 min read

Memories… memories… memories…

Oh my freakin’ memories.

Okay—it has to be said.

We cannot keep pretending this is normal.

Have we all lost the ability to keep moments in our heads and hearts?

For the love of your home—and not to mention your kids—enough with the “memories.”

Why in God’s green earth are we holding onto SO many things and calling them

meaningful?.

“This is the shirt I got at a concert.”
“This is the outfit Johnny wore when he had ice cream.”
“That puzzle I did with Charlie.”
“Those cards I’ll never look at again… but I can’t get rid of them.”

Meanwhile it’s all shoved in a corner…

covered in dust…

maybe even mouse poop…

…but we’re calling it memories.

“I used that screwdriver to fix my first bike chain.”

“These CDs I’ll never listen to again.”

Memories. Memories. Memories.

And now the kids—

THE KIDS.

They’re having full-blown meltdowns over stuff.

What are we doing?

When did we teach them that every single object holds emotional weight?

When did we decide that letting go of a thing means losing a moment?

Because it doesn’t.

You don’t need the shirt.

You don’t need the broken toy.

You don’t need bins and bins and bins of proof that your life happened.

The memory is not in the item.

It’s in YOU.

And if we don’t get a handle on this…

we are raising a generation that is going to be completely buried under the weight of “meaning.”

This isn’t sentimental.
This is suffocating.

And it’s time we start calling it what it is.

If this made you uncomfortable… good. That’s where change starts.

Message us “RESET” and let’s fix what’s actually going on.
